Investor-Owned Utilities (IOUs) are at the forefront of integrating Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) and Demand Response (DR) assets into their grid operations for enhanced resiliency, cost savings, and carbon emissions reductions. With a national call for substantial investment in clean energy and innovation, this presents a pivotal opportunity for individuals passionate about driving change in the energy landscape.

We are seeking highly motivated and results-oriented individuals to join our clients team as an IOU Sales Account Executive.  In this role, you will be instrumental in generating revenue for our client’s Grid Modernization solutions, which encompass a comprehensive DR/DER management platform and related offerings. You’ll leverage your strategic prospecting skills and consultative sales approach to identify and capitalize on opportunities in the electric utility industry.

Key Responsibilities:

– Develop and execute an annual territory sales plan to achieve revenue targets and quotas.

– Prospect, build a robust sales pipeline, and advance opportunities through the sales cycle.

– Present, propose, and discuss solutions tailored to the specific needs of IOUs.

– Collaborate with technical staff and colleagues to support overall sales efforts.

– Conduct market research, develop sales strategies, and provide tradeshow support.

– Prepare proposals, write sales reports, and maintain accurate sales documentation.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

– Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related discipline.

– Minimum of 10 years of sales experience, preferably in the utility/distribution industry.

– Proven track record of identifying and closing new business opportunities.

– Strong understanding of electric utility operations and AMI/AMR technology.

– Experience with load control, demand management, DERs, and smart thermostat solutions.

– Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

– Customer-centric mindset with a focus on translating customer needs into solutions.

– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

– Proficiency in standard desktop tools.

– Willingness to travel extensively (expected 50%+).

– U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent residency required.

 

Other Requirements:

– Knowledge or experience with IOU business processes and budget cycles preferred.

– Ability to focus on a specific subset of US-based IOUs.
